Every body knows divorce is expensive, particularly if children and multiple properties and assets are involved. Some people, with or without any legal background, file their own divorce papers in order to save money. Familiarize yourself with the requirements for divorce in your state; each state has its own stipulation. To save time and energy, you can always search for information in the Internet. Generally, you will need to file the following forms:
Divorce Petitions - states the reason for seeking divorce and your demands. It should also contain information about your residency; you need to have lived in the state for a definite amount of years before your petition is to be considered.
Alimony and Child Support/Custody - If applicable, you must fill up forms for these demands. For alimony, you will need to fill up a form which contains a list of expenses and source of income. For child support or custody, you will need to propose the arrangement you and your spouse have decided upon.
Financial Documents - This includes tax returns, bank account information, investment documents, debts, mortgages, loans etc. within the previous three to five years. During this time, it is wise to take care of any joint accounts you had as a couple.
Get divorce forms. These can be obtained through an attorney, office supplies stores; you can even download divorce papers online. If you want to get your divorce papers in the Internet, be sure to download the forms specific in your state.
Fill out these forms. You and your spouse should be on the same page; Most, if not every, issue should have been worked out prior to this point to make things quicker. This is phase will decide whether you can file divorce papers on your own or if you need lawyers to act as mediators. You should also agree on which of you will file the divorce papers.
File the divorce papers. If you don't know where and how many copies you should bring, give your county office a ring or check it out online. This could take longer that you'd expect so don't make any other plans on the same day you're supposed to file your divorce papers. Prepare some cash because there is usually a filing fee. If you have any questions such as how long you'll have to wait before your divorce gets finalized, ask the clerk in the office.

What is a typical divorce visitation schedule in California? Please read below & advise if this is the norm.?
Husband & wife has a 4-year old daughter. Wife filed for divorce last year. 4 months after wife filed, husband left CA and moved to NC. His vistitation is one weekend a month in CA. Alternating holidays, birthdays, & two non-consecutive weeks in the summer whether CA or NC. Divorce got finalized this year.
Now ex husband is moving back after 1 year to CA. He'll be 30 miles away from ex wife & child. He's requesting visitation to be every other weekend. Every Wednesday night to take child out to dinner. 3 weeks in the summer starting next year; then adding 1 week as each year passes. Alternating holidays and birthdays.
Child will start Kindergarten this fall. Wife feels mid-week dinner visitation will be disruptive as child will adjust to new school and new proposed visitation schedule. Wife is suggesting to see a child development specialist to see insight about visitation. Ex husband disagrees & says to ex if she doesn't agree to his proposal that he will file & ask more time.

In counseling my husband opened up my eyes to MANY deceptions and lies he has brought into our marriage. Really bad stuff. He's trying to learn and make things well. I told him I needed closure He said he loved me then too as much as I loved him but it was long distance and that he was immature then. He is now married and has children. I cheated on my wife..Please....I need help to save my marriage...please?
I cheated on my wife over a year ago and she found out last April. I moved out or rather, got kicked out and have been out of my house for over a year now. I apologized numerous times in the beginning and I truly, truly, truly feel anguish like nobody knows. I miss my wife so much it hurts me everyday...I miss my kids. But mostly, I feel extreme anguish and pain also because I love my wife with all my soul......I don't know what to do....She proceeded with divorce papers over 6 months ago but she never finished the whole process. I was actually at her lawyers office with her to discuss the legalities of a divorce, visitation rights and how much I would end up paying for child support.
We get along right now, but I think about that awful day each and every day and I would do whatever it takes to tell my wife that I made the biggest mistake anyone could ever make on the one they love....Someone......anyone....please help....I'm lost and I need help....I want my wife. I love her.
